Second Annual Red Kettle Run
SECOND ANNUAL RED KETTLE RUN
Benefiting The Salvation Army Food Pantry
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is getting off to a running start. The first Red Kettle holiday event of the season is the Red Kettle 5K Run/Walkon Saturday, October 29, 9:00 am at Zorinsky Lake, 156th & F Street (south pavilion entrance). The goal of this event is to bring awareness to The Salvation Army food pantry and the ongoing need for non-perishable food donations. Last year, the pantry served nearly 29,000 people right here in Omaha. This year the demand is up. Since January, 2011, The Salvation Army has seen a 39% increase in food pantry use. Instead of an entry fee, runners and walkers are asked to bring 10 non-perishable food items or $10 for the food pantry. No pre-registration is required. All participants are eligible to win door prizes which include an Ipod Touch, Creighton basketball tickets, night at the movies, many restaurant gift certificates and more.
