Shawn Mendes reached out to a Florida teen who couldn’t attend one of his recent concerts. 16-year-old Giovanna Santos fell ill about 4 months ago. Doctors diagnosed her with a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy. It causes her blood not to pump normally. Giovanna wanted to celebrate her birthday at Shawn’s concert in Miami on July 28th.
She had to be in the hospital as she awaits a heart transplant. With the help of the hospital staff, Giovanna was able to get in touch with Mendes. A few days later, Mendes called her on FaceTime. He told her, “I love you so much.” Giovanna was inspired by the conversation.
