The second-grade class that went viral last month after turning Lizzo’s song “Truth Hurts” into a song that talks about being great got a chance to meet the singer in person during her tour stop in San Jose, California.
Dorothy Honey Mallari says she wanted the opportunity to tell Lizzo, “and look her in her eyes and say, ‘Thank you, thank you. You don’t know how many of us are watching you,”
Mallari got the chance to tell Lizzo just that and students from her class say that the experience was a little “scary” and “exciting.”
“This is why I love teaching. I learn so much more than they can ever learn from me,” said Mallari.
