Gin Distillery Accidentally Sells Gin Bottles Full Of Hand Sanitizer

Many distilleries have been stepping up during the pandemic to produce hand sanitizer. Unfortunately, an Australian gin distillery had a major mix-up with their products.
The company mistakenly sold labeled gin bottles to distributors that weren’t filled with gin at all. But with hand sanitizer.

“The product is labeled as gin, however it is not gin,” the distillery’s recall warning reads. The statement continues to say, “Apollo Bay Distillery’s SS Casino Gin, typically contains juniper, cinnamon myrtle, saltbush, and fennel botanicals. Whereas the mixture of 1.45% glycerol and 0.125% hydrogen peroxide hand sanitizer won’t kill you, is not meant to be ingested, and can cause dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, thirst, nausea, headaches, and bloating.”

Since the recall was issued the distillery, Apollo Bay is offering refunds or replacement bottles to anyone who may have purchased their gin with proof of purchase.

Talk about scary.
