Facebook has reportedly been paying outside contractors to transcribe user audio clips.
Bloomberg reports outside contractors for the social media giant have been listening to user conversations, but weren’t sure why they needed to be transcribed.
Facebook confirmed to Bloomberg that they were transcribing users’ audio chats, but add they are halting that operation.
The company says those affected opted to have their voice chats transcribed by choosing the option in Facebook’s Messenger app.
