Setting your thermostat at 78 is the best way to keep your home cool and use energy efficiently. That’s what the Energy Star program recommends.
Energy Star says you should set the thermostat at 85 or higher when you’re gone during the day.
The federal program managed by the Energy Department and the EPA also says it’s best to set the thermostat at 82 on summer nights.
On the other hand, the National Sleep Foundation recommends for a good night’s sleep to keep the temps cool – between 60 to 67 degrees.
